Cinema Directing Studies Abroad Program                                                         Summer 2002

A script to screen examination of the necessary skills and techniques required to successfully write, produce, direct, and market a film.  Full program in Avignon, France with additional travel throughout Provence & Paris, Amsterdam, Holland and Florence & Rome, Italy.

 

 

STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT FREDONIA                                                                                                

B.A. Theatre Arts, minor in Philosophy                                                                 1996 - 1999

Grew as a theatre artist through opportunities to perform, direct, and collaborate with fellow students, staff and local professionals.  Co-founded The Group Studio, a student organization designed to self-produce theatrical works at professional venues.  Created and directed Random Acts, an improv entertainment troupe, now celebrating its 12th year of regular performance at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House

 

LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY/C.W. POST CAMPUS                                    

Undergraduate Credit - BFA Acting                                                                      1994 - 1995

Conservatory-style training in acting styles ranging from classical to contemporary.  Inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, National Collegiate Honor Society.  Featured performer at the 27th annual American Theatre Festival as Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream, under the direction of Patrick Tucker.

 

UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE

Level 1 - 4 Long Form Improv Comedy Training                                                  1999 - 2001

Studied and performed improv style developed by Del Close.  Helped to design and implement a budget and itinerary for the first tour of The Mobile Assault Unit.

Studied narrative improvisation under the tutelage of Martin de Maat.

Adjunct Professor: Improvisational Theatre, Theatre Arts Department

  • Instructor of course THE 232 Improvisational Theatre. Covers principles and techniques of both Long and Short Form improvisation as a performance art form, and fundamentals of ensemble-playing, characterization and play-making (creation of Theatre Scenarios). Explores the effect of the dramatic process on communication skills and human development. 3 Cr. Every Semester.

 

SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, Rochester City School District                                         September 2008 - January 2010

Full -Time Theatre Arts Teacher

♦      Created and implemented Theatre Arts curriculum for Drama Majors and Non-Major students in grades 7 - 12.

♦      Directed students in school productions, including the creation of the school's first short form improv comedy   and sketch troupe.

VISION THEATRE                                                                                                     2001 - 2003

Co-Founder and Executive Producer

♦         Converted a former department store into a 150 seat performing arts venue.

♦         Produced 18 plays, with over 700 performances, from adaptations to original productions and a reinvention of Random Acts, coining the phrase "ImproVariety."

♦         Created Square Roots Children's Theater, which included an original Commedia dell'Arte company.
